The training, held jointly for both men and women across the Juaboso and Bia East Districts, focused on three key areas: Setting Financial Goals, Making Smart Spending Decisions, Creating and Managing a Budget. It is said that 'Financial inclusion bridges the gap between poverty and prosperity'. The initiative therefore aims to bridge financial literacy gaps that hinder individuals particularly women from effectively managing resources, making informed financial decisions, and improving their economic well-being. As part of the training, participants were also assisted to develop practical Action Plans to guide them in applying the knowledge gained, while providing a framework for monitoring their progress over time. Participation saw a higher number of women than men, reflecting the programme’s emphasis on empowering women and promoting inclusive economic growth.
In addition to financial skills, the sessions also addressed gender-based disparities in economic participation, stressing the importance of equitable access to resources and opportunities for all.
“Development is not about charity—it’s about empowerment.”
This Phase 1 training marks the beginning of a comprehensive financial capacity-building journey, with subsequent phases set to deepen participants’ knowledge and equip them with more advanced skills to manage and grow their income streams. The trainees extended their appreciation to the ILO, the Netherlands Government, Ghana government and ComCA Ghana for the collaborative support towards their economic empowerment, all geared towards the elimination of Child Labour in Ghana.

Children are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers of our world. However, millions of children worldwide are denied their childhood and forced into labor, depriving them of their right to education and a carefree upbringing. The phrase "Children should hold books, not tools" resonates deeply, highlighting the importance of prioritizing education over exploitation. By investing in education and protecting children from labor, we can secure a brighter future for them and for generations to come.
"It's time to take a stand against child labor and ensure that every child deserves education, not exploitation"
ComCA Ghana in partnership with ILO through the ACCEL Africa Project is making it happen”
There's hope for the future !!! By working together, we can create a world where children can thrive, learn, and grow without the burden of labor.
